Wynwood Droughtmasters' breeding philosophy centres on recording production traits to suit our environment and the disciplined application of available Droughtmaster Group Breedplan EBVs (Estimated Breeding Values).

Through a balanced approach using multi trait selection, we avoid extremes and aim for highly productive, structurally correct, high fertility cattle with high quality carcass attributes. The aim is to suit both our customers' and our own market needs.

Objective Measurement

We consider - for the Droughtmaster (or any other Breed) to survive against the other 45 competing, recognized, beef breeds in Australia - it must be able to demonstrate its relevance to the beef industry by objective measurement.

Understanding these principles, we can adjust our selection pressures to suit our individual herd's requirements. (If we balance our genetics, nutrition / management correctly - we should be in a better position to command a higher selling price and ensure greater customer satisfaction.)
